Thanks to the members of the association for their cooperation in 2020

Please allow me to thank you for your cooperation in 2020.

The year 2020 was marked by the coronavirus pandemic, which posed a significant problem for our deliberations in Parliament and in the ministries at a time when new waste management legislation was being adopted. Most of our meetings were online, accompanied by thousands of emails and phone calls.

Even so, the efforts of the Czech Circular Economy Association, which lasted several years, were successful. We applied the amendments prepared by the Association from the stage of the internal comment procedure at the Ministry of the Environment, through the inter-ministerial comment procedure to the discussion in both chambers of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

The complexity of the topics under discussion, combined with their social sensitivity, made our task of adapting the submitted laws into a form that will facilitate the transition to a circular economy even more complicated. But as a result, a total of 80% of our amendments were adopted.

The legislative phase is now underway, when the discussion of the prepared implementing regulations is coming to an end. There will be six in total and, given the time delay in their publication in the Collection of Laws, they will be provided with transitional periods to allow for good preparation. The Ministry of the Environment provides on its website an interpretation, methodology for landfill fees from 1 January 2021.
For our better communication, you will be informed once a month in 2021 by the ČAObH e-Newsletter about everything current from the Association's point of view.

We count on your cooperation and support, and since the end of the year is also a time of resolutions for the New Year, we wish that 2021 will be at least as successful for the circular economy as the end of 2020.

RNDr. Miloš Kužvart
