On 5 and 6 June, Brno's URBIS SMART CITY FAIR combined the best of trade fairs and conferences into one, thus creating a unique platform for sharing information about the future of smart cities.

URBIS SMART CITY FAIR

During the two-day program, dozens of representatives from the professional community and corporate leaders in innovation met at URBIS and shared ideas, experiences and examples from practice. Together, they presented solutions that enable SMART City concepts to be brought to life. In total, around 1,000 visitors, 65 companies and 50 cities took part in the fair.

SUEZ Resource Utilization and SUEZ Water services in the SMART City area

Representatives of the SUEZ Group were also invited to the conference. On behalf of SUEZ Resource Utilization, Mr. Bc. Jakub Vach, SUEZ Water Sales Director, Mr. Ing. Ludvík Rutar. Together they lectured on SMART City services offered by both companies.

DIJON, FRANCE'S FIRST SMART CITY

The practical example given was the city of Dijon. It won the title of the first French smart city to modernise and streamline its overall operations with the help of SUEZ and its services.

By demonstrating the application of smart solutions in Dijon, the seminar participants were introduced to how cities are optimised with a fundamental focus on the comfort of citizens.

PROVEN SOLUTIONS FOR SMART CITY

Among the proven solutions that will help cities of the future to streamline waste management are collection and recording of emptying bins using RFID (radio frequency identification) technology or QR codes, smart bins that monitor their own fullness of waste, smart collection yards that record traffic data, etc.

As far as water management in the smart city is concerned, SUEZ offers a smart solution, for example in the form of remote water meter readings, which not only provide customers with sufficient privacy, but also alert them in time to excessive water consumption and ensure billing based on actual consumption.

Contributions from other members of the CABh

Other presentations by members of the ČAObh explained the issues of mixed municipal waste management, the use of biogas stations, the management of abandoned car wrecks and introduced the participants to modern sorting lines for metal waste and lines for sorting old paper.
